The Nuremberg Report: Spielwarenmesse 2020

This year’s Spielwarenmesse 2020 has been declared a huge success, with the successful toy show once again played home to hundreds of exhibitors from around the globe – including the party and celebration sector in Hall 9. As beneficial for finding new distribution contacts as it is retail buyers, PartyWorldwide.net spoke to some party exhibitors to see how the show had been for them:

“The Showtime platform at Spielwarenmesse is a wonderful opportunity for us and this year we used it to present our 2020 collection to the world. We also shared the joy and creativity of balloon art with those attending the fair. There were six demonstrations by the very talented Cristian, Roberta and Gergo, who performed in front of more than 300 live viewers on Instagram. We hope it has whetted everyone’s appetite before the launch of our 2020 GemarDay Worldwide Tour.”

“Spielwarenmesse was very good for the third year of us exhibiting, with a great reaction to our new stand and new products – particularly our new sustainable concepts. Our new Miffy range (licensed for Benelux) has also been very successful. We’ve seen lots of new prospects.”

“The show has been very good for PartyDeco, as we have seen many new customers visiting our stand and it’s also a great chance to see current customers and maintain good relationships. We are showing a lot of new products across weddings and party decorations – it is our 25th anniversary this year so we’re also here giving thanks to all those customers who trust and work with us.”

“It’s been good, to be honest it is slightly slower than last year but still worth being here to see our regular customers, we have also met some interesting prospects but would have hoped for slightly higher traffic – but still good.”

IMG_7325Filiberto Colella, founder, Rifco World Group and Balloons World Store (Italy)
“It’s a very international show which is good for us as we have customers in 150 countries for Rifco, and 90 countries with Balloon World Store. Business is good as we have great products and unique products that no one else has. Every year people talk of less customers and more quality – but for us it’s simply a successful show every year as we have great, quality, unique products that no-one else has.”

IMG_7349Thomas Chaks, general manager, Chaks (France)
“We have been busy every day with new international customers as well as local customers – who have all been happy with the new items we’ve shown them. And so we feel quite positive! We have big expectations for Halloween this year and have had a great reception to our new lines which include masks, costumes, and animated props.”

IMG_7303-1Greg de Jong, sales & marketing director, Folat (The Netherlands)
“If you look at the number of visitors it was less than previous years, but the quality of customers has been really good so we’re happy. We had an objective for the show and we reached that objective, via a mix of new and existing accounts visiting our booth. Overall, very happy.”

Spielwarenmesse 2021 will take place from 27 – 31 January in Nuremberg, Germany. More info: toyfair.de
