Smiffys reports record sales in Australia

The supplier has also seen increasing volumes across the UK, EU and US during Q1.

Dress up and party manufacturer Smiffys has reported record sales in its Australian business, up 67% in Q1 against the same period in pre-Covid 2019.

The sales increase comes on the back of a very buoyant Q4 2020, which was 25% up on the fourth quarter in 2019.

Elliott Peckett, director, said: “Our trade and consumer sales reflected strong consumer demand as the Australian people partied hard. As restrictions ease, we are seeing volumes not only return, but exceed previous performance, which bodes well for our sales in other territories.”

Sales in the UK, EU and US are also improving month-on month for the company, with sales in April and May this year up by almost 50% on 2020, while June is forecasted to be close to that of pre-Covid 2019.

Meanwhile, forward Halloween orders are at 2019 levels – more than double that of 2020 – as customers plan for a bumper Halloween this year.

Elliott added: “Retail customers are now incredibly positive about trade as we enter the summer. Gone is the pessimism about when restrictions will end and there is now a tangible excitement amongst our customers about the return to business as normal.”
