Smiffys’ 60th anniversary Barbie costume takes home Licensing Award

Smiffys’ fabulously stylish 60th anniversary limited edition Barbie costume was named the winner of the hotly-contested Best Licensed Dress-up or Partyware Range at Tuesday night’s Licensing Awards.

The award, which was sponsored by Beano Studios, was collected by director Dominique Peckett and team.

“We are thrilled to have won this year’s award,” commented Dominique. “It’s been a great collaboration and the Mattel team have been fantastic to work with. It was great to work on something a little bit different to what’s already on the market. A big shout out to Barbie and Mattel!”

The adult fancy-dress costume recreates the iconic look of the first ever Barbie doll and was launched to celebrate 60 years of the world’s number one fashion doll. With a black and white sequin bodysuit, pink fluffy coat and sunglasses, presented in a collector’s box with a numbered certificate, the costume is an ode to the original curator Ruth Handler and her first ever doll.

Tuesday night’s spectacular event saw some 1,400 industry executives packing into The Great Room at the Grosvenor House Hotel to celebrate this year’s winners across all retail, product and property categories. See the full coverage on LicensingSource.net.
