Rubie’s Mike O’Connell nominated for IP champion award

Mike O’Connell, global head of anti-piracy at Rubie’s Masquerade, has been nominated for a prestigious IP Champion Award as recognition of his outstanding work in promoting and protecting intellectual property.

The award was given out on Wednesday 4 July at the third annual British IP day, a celebration of the huge contribution that intellectual property makes to the UK, both culturally and economically.

The annual celebration of the increasingly important sector took place in Westminster and was organised by The Alliance for Intellectual Property.

The day included the Alliance’s Summer Reception in Parliament, presentation of the IP Champion Award, and a ‘creator gathering’ of meetings with MPs.

“I am delighted to be nominated and even happier to have been shortlisted for The IP Champion Award,” said Mike. “Given that this is such a prestigious award, to even be chosen by an elite panel of experts from industry and politics, is an honour.”

He continued, “We are all very proud of the hard work both myself and the team have put in to establish and ensure the programme at Rubie’s is a continued success on a global scale.”
