New world record set for biggest ever balloon sculpture

A new Guinness World Record has been set for the biggest ever balloon sculpture, following an official attempt made in Turkey earlier this year.

The giant dinosaur balloon sculpture has been named the largest in the world and in doing so, secured a place in the official Guinness World Records 2020. A time-lapse video of the sculpture being built was shared on the official Guinness World Records Facebook page, where it has been ‘liked’ by over 14,000 people.

Made from 150,000 latex balloons, the sculpture was over 25 ft high and 64ft long. It took a team of 34 balloon artists and local students two full days to build. The record was achieved by ‘Balloon Crew’ and Guido Verhoef (Netherlands), Bahar Belisan (Turkey) and Willy Monroe (Spain) and took place at Metropol mall in Istanbul, Turkey, back in October.

“A big thank you to all the 15 international balloon artists, the amazing 20 local students from Istanbul and a big big thank you to the fantastic management and all the staff working at Metropol Istanbul to facilitate this Guinness World Record as a part of the Balloon Animal Exhibition!” commented Guido, following the event. “Thank you all!”
