Isle of Wight festival announces fancy dress theme

Organisers of the Isle of Wight Festival have announced that this year’s festival – taking place from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 June – will be following a Summer of ’69 — Peace and Love fancy dress theme.

The Summer of ‘69 – Peace and Love theme has been chosen to recognise and pay homage to the very first Isle of Wight festival which took place 50 years ago.

On Saturday 15 June anyone dressed in their 60s-best should gather at 2pm in Strawberry Fields, where one lucky person will be crowned the King or Queen of Summer. The winner will receive an exclusive backstage tour and champagne picnic.

Other festivals which will be embracing fancy dress this year include Bestival (which has a theme of Heroes vs Superheroes), Standon Calling (twisted creatures), Kendal Calling (Jurassic) and Green Man festival (outer space).
