A popular fancy dress and costume shop based in Burney (UK) will be closing its doors at some point over the next few months as owner plans to retire from the party industry after 22 years in the trade.
Over the last few decades fancy dress shop owner Jeff Biddulph has seen his store Fancy That become a much-loved fixture in the town, brightening the lives of thousands of customers in that time.
“I’ve been meaning to retire for a few years and never really got on with it because I enjoy being in the shop,” said Jeff. “I’ve dealt with people all my life; I really enjoy it. Not opening the shop will be the hardest thing, but there’s already a list of things for me to do in retirement and it’s growing!”
Jeff first opened Fancy That when the town’s only party shop closed in the 1990s. “When this place became available, I thought ‘I might have a go at that’,” said Jeff, who will be heavily discounting his existing stock (at least 25% off) as the shop closes down, with all children’s costumes and accessories at least half price. Nurseries and theater groups are also encouraged to visit in person to discuss bulk discounts.
“I’ve had a lot of support from people – they appreciate I’m a family person running a family business and I have to be thankful,” he continued.“Now it’s time to thank them with a bargain!”
“It will be sad,” Jeff admitted. “You don’t do something like this for all that time and not to miss it.”
