The 2019 London Marathon will be taking place this Sunday 28 April, with impressive array of fancy dress and costume creations on display from hundreds of runners.
As ever, many of these will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for running in their chosen costume, with an impressive 84 records being attempted at this weekend’s event.
Guinness World Records has collaborated with the Virgin Money London Marathon for the 12th consecutive year to provide the most creative and inspirational fun runners with world record verification which will take place on the finish line.
A team of adjudicators will be on hand to check costumes, verify times and confirm successful runners as official GWR title holders, earning them a coveted place in the 2020 book out in September.

Fastest marathon dressed as a mythical creature
Fastest marathon dressed as a zombie
Fastest marathon dressed as a fairy tale character
Fastest marathon dressed as a caveman
Fastest marathon dressed as a dragon
Nearly 100 runners attempted to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records wearing costumes last year, including a runner dressed as a toilet, a pencil, Paddington Bear and a poo emoji.
