Every Child Deserves To Dream teams up with Rubies and Smiffys to donate 100,000 costumes for World Book Day.

Rubies has hit its target to donate 100,000 costumes to underprivileged children in partnership with Every Child Deserves to Dream, World Book Day Charity, Parentkind and Smiffys.

In three months, Rubies, Smiffys and partners have worked together to ship 100,000 free costumes in 1.700 shipments to 1.390 schools in the space of just two weeks.

The campaign was supported by donations from the Every Child Deserves to Dream Community Interest Company and Disney, which allowed selected lines from its portfolio to be included in the donations.

Fran Hales, head of marketing and portfolio at Rubies, commented: “Considering the teams are in one of our peak seasons with hundreds and thousands of orders per day, it has been an outstanding experience and success story of teamwork.

“We are extremely grateful to our project management, tech, marketing, administrative and logistics teams who have worked tirelessly to ensure costumes were delivered before the big day.

“I also want to acknowledge and thank Every Child Deserves To Dream for their support along with all the efforts that came from the teams at Smiffys and our other partners World Book Day Charity for their continued support and introducing us to Parentkind.

“Parentkind utilised their network of PTA’s and resources to drive awareness/demand, while building an ordering system that enabled us to ensure schools that needed them most, received their costumes.

“This is undoubtably an exceptional achievement, of which we will all look back on with immense pride.”
