Day of the Dead is Halloween hit for Magic Box

Newcastle-based fancy dress and costume shop Magic Box has revealed which have been its most popular costumes so far this season in the run-up to Halloween in an interview with the local newspaper.

The shop has already seen queues stretching out of the door and is continuing to brace itself for a busy few days as the big day itself draws closer.

Speaking to the Chronicle Live, partner Clive Richardson said that “It’s sad but traditional Halloween costumes like witches and vampires just aren’t wanted anymore. People are after more striking, interesting outfits.”

He continued; “For us the biggest trend for both men and women this year has been Day of the Dead. It’s been popular for the last few years, but this year it’s hit its peak and it’s been tremendous.”

“Harley Quinn is still popular with girls,” he added, “but there’s also been a lot of interest in dolls and the voodoo look. The shorter dresses are also big sellers as they really stand out.”
