Messages Party Shop is a family-run balloon and party shop with two branches, based in Hertford and Welwyn Garden City which has been operating since 1984. Owner Claire Ridley talks us through what has been selling well in recent weeks.

“Unicorns are here to stay, but we are starting to get lots of flamingo requests
too, especially the Qualatex SuperShape. Bubbles with personalised balloons inside, for birthdays, weddings and especially christenings are some of our bestsellers right now. Black and gold has continued well for colour themes.”
Partyware; Unicorns (Amscan, Creative Party) and football (Unique Party)
“Themed partyware is all about unicorns of course! But we’re also selling a lot of the football partyware by Unique Party. We also sell a lot of the usual party bag items like stretchy men and bubbles.”
Royal Wedding; Crowns, tiaras and tableware (Unique Party, Amscan)
“People went all out for the Royal Wedding. As well as the crowns and tiaras it was the full Union Jack-themed tableware and bunting from Unique Party.”
Bespoke Orders; Confetti balloons and gender reveals (Eurowrap, Qualatex) Alandra sashes and games
“We’re supplying partyware and balloons for lots of baby showers and gender reveals these days. Baby showers tend not to be gender specific with people opting for pastels and mint green as well as the more traditional pink and blue. Gender-reveals are all about the moment of reveal so as well as the confetti balloons we’re selling lots of confetti cannons so guests can join in the big moment.”
