Balloon Story brings 600,000 balloons to NYC

Balloon Story in Park Avenue Armory features a range of creations made entirely from balloons.

Balloon Story began life in Tel Aviv last year and is an immersive experience showcased across various rooms. Sculptures include the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty and various animals, astronauts, food, landscapes and more.

Interactive elements in the exhibit include a ball pit, sound effects and mechanics, creating a roaring lion, a fluttering parrot and a gorilla that waves as visitors pass.

Balloon Story has broken the record as the largest balloon installation every made, according to collaborator Dvorah Leah Schneerson-Jacobson.

Balloon artist Kobi Kalimian is the art director of the exhibition. He and Jacobson recruited 100 balloon artists from around the world to work on the installation, which took around 10 days to complete.

Balloon Story runs until 25 August and has so far attracted over 100,000 visitors. The exhibition is also running again in Tel Aviv and the organisers hope to take it around the world in the future.
