Balloon artists bring Christmas joy to Tunbridge Wells hospital

A team of independent balloon artists have joined together to create a festive display on the children’s Hedgehog ward at Tunbridge Wells hospital.

Debbie Boxall, owner of Dream Higher Events, gathered the team of eight artists to create the display. Qualatex, Kalisan and Esquire Developments sponsored the initiative.

Hedgehog ward is a 23-bed inpatient unit caring for children from birth to 16 years-old. The display includes a gingerbread house in the waiting room, as well as colourful garlands along the nurses’ station and corridor.

Debbie, whose son was rushed into hospital after a freak accident on Christmas Day two years ago, said: “I didn’t know how we were going to do it, but we wanted to make it happen.”

With over 2,000 balloons and nine hours of work, the team did indeed make it happen.
