Aldi declares its own Halloween lines ‘ too scary’

Budget supermarket Aldi has declared that some of its own Halloween lines are ‘too scary’ to be displayed on its famous middle aisle.

The supermarket says that despite a growing demand for scary costumes and props, products like its motion-sensored undead corpse might be ‘too gruesome’ to display as they could be distressing for children.

Aldi’s Halloween range features a number of props, some of which include mechanical or animated features. Other products on the banned list include a dancing skeleton and a red-eyed zombie emerging from a grave – all of which can be bought from the retailer’s online store.

“In recent years we’ve seen increased demand for Halloween products, particularly among adults,” said Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK. “We challenged our buyers to unleash their most realistic and terrifying Halloween decorations, to provide our customers with the best, high-quality products at low prices.”

Aldi will continue to stock its child-friendly products in-store and is also reintroducing its popular range of children’s Halloween costumes.
