Derby-based fancy dress shop set to close

Luvyababes will close its doors later this month after trading for over a decade.

Owner, Belinda Thorpe, has confirmed the store will close ‘before February’, but has said customers can still shop online and at the Nottingham branch of the retailer.

The Derby store is closing due to the lease on the shop ending, which Belinda said is ‘the perfect chance to take an early retirement’, adding that the store was running ‘as strong as ever’ prior to the decision to close.

Belinda told DerbyshireLive: “I want to thank every customer who has walked through our doors who has made Luvyababes such a success. I will forever cherish my time at Luvyababes and cannot thank the Derby people enough for their custom.

“I’ve loved every minute of working here, I can assure people that there is no negativity but, of course, there is sadness, but we are treating this as a positive step. It’s the perfect chance for an early retirement and it’s an opportunity that I simply cannot pass.”
