Big Balloon Build creates fairytale wonderland

A fairytale wonderland was created out of more than 60,000 balloons last month, as a result of the third Big Balloon Build. The event, which is the brainchild of Beyond Balloons’ Stuart Davies, took place in early December and took a team of 45 volunteers three days to put together.

Based at the Tonyrefail Christmas Event in Wales, the build started in a giant storybook before leading into an enchanted forest and ending in in a very festive Santa’s grotto.

Highworth Emporium co-owner Aga Gabrysiak was one of them. “Working with people from the USA, Canada, South Africa and Norway offered new experiences and ideas and fun,” she said. “I learned a lot of new things and worked on different elements of it. It was amazing to see the whole scene when it was completed, the pictures don’t do it justice.”

She continued: “The forest had more of a wow factor than last year’s structure. The look on people’s faces when they saw it for the first time was quite something. The scene was so big that you could actually walk through it along a spiral path, which was an amazing experience.”

The build will once again be carefully taken apart and transported to schools and hospitals around Wales to cheer up children and their families during the festive season.
