Party Pieces restructures business to meet ‘financial targets’

Party Pieces – the online party retailer owned and run by the Middleton family – has restructured its business in order to meet its current ‘financial targets’.

The company, which was started as a mail order business by the Duchess of Cambridge’s mother in 1987, has seen a drop in staff numbers, with reports suggesting that a web designer, PR agent and search engine optimisation expert were among those who lost their jobs.

These losses came after three warehouse staff also saw their contracts terminated in the run-up to Christmas 2018.

Despite the fact that the company employs more than 30 people, consumer newspapers have reported this as ‘half the staff’, with an insider apparently saying that there is a ‘terrible air of doom and gloom about the place’.

A Party Pieces spokesperson refused to comment on the media speculation, but went on to say; “We can confirm the business is currently working on an exciting development partnership and long term growth strategy, and as part of this process the company’s structure is being reviewed to align with its financial targets, in consultation with its staff.”

It is unclear just how much Party Pieces is worth, with some consumer news outlets claiming figures as high as £30 million.
