Eastenders showcases Smiffys’ costume for International Women’s Day

Award-winning UK television series Eastenders showcased Smiffys suffragette costume on Friday 8 March, International Women’s Day.

The scene showed popular character Stacey and her daughter Lily getting ready for school and dressing up in the suffragette costume while discussing why Lily couldn’t dress up as Beyoncé instead.

The clip of Lily dressed in Smiffys  suffragette costume for International Women’s Day was also posted on Eastenders’ Facebook timeline where it has been viewed more than 219,000 times and its Twitter feed, where it has been watched more than 14,000 times so far.

“The sales of our suffragette costume and accessories did very well in the month leading up to International World Day,” said Smiffys’ digital marketing executive Egidija Juodseryte.

“We think it’s great to see so many girls wearing suffragette costumes, whether it was for World Book Day (as this means they are reading really important books and learning about history!) or International Women’s Day.”
