“We forsee sales increasing,” says Emma Angel

Emma Angel, director of Angels Fancy Dress and Angels Distribution, shares her thoughts on the upcoming Halloween season for 2019.

What do you predict for Halloween 2019?

“Halloween is always the most exciting and enthusiastic time of year for fancy dress. Over the last few years we have seen a decline in sales across the entire industry, but this appears to be due to Halloween falling earlier in the week. However, with Halloween falling on a Thursday this year we foresee sales increasing. It is always a great time of year to see both Angels stores busy and brewing and seeing customers getting excited over the perfect costume for that amazing night they have planned.”

Halloween spans a huge range of styles and products, what trends do you predict will be big for 2019?

“With the release of the blockbuster film Avengers: Endgame, we can assume that superheroes will continue to be largely popular. We have also seen a growing trend in Halloween make-up, with customers being much more interested in being creative with their looks.”

Which are your best-selling lines and collections?

“For a classic take on Halloween the ‘Midnight Vampiress’ and ‘Midnight Vampire’ from In Character are perfect choices. The company also has a great range of costumes for babies as the demand for these has increased drastically over the last few years. Costumes such as ‘Baby Dragon’, ‘Baby Jack-O-Lantern’ and our best seller ‘Baby Bat’ allows children of all ages to get involved in the Halloween spirit.”

What are your hero Halloween products for 2019?

“The Tinsley 3D FX Transfers are consistently popular, the products are easy to apply and create incredibly realistic results. ‘Devil Horns’ is one which has been particularly popular along with ‘Small Gouge’ and ‘Trypophobia with Maggots’ create some really squeamish results, perfect for the blood and gore of Halloween.”

Any advice for retailers looking to highlight Halloween this year?

“Make sure accessories are displayed where they are easily accessible and visible as this works really well for customers who are looking to add finishing touches to their costume. Always keep small items by the counters, this won’t be missed by customers!
Always worth keeping an eye out for any major costume based film releases as this massively influences customer requests.”
