Underwraps costume at centre of Iranian media storm

A child’s NASA costume from Underwraps has been placed firmly at the centre of a media storm after it was tweeted by an Iranian minister, positioned as one of the country’s own spacesuits.

Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi, Tehran’s information and communications technology minister, tweeted a picture of the silver outfit with the caption: ‘astronaut costume #brightfuture’.

The Iranian regime has been widely ridiculed for the post, which looks like an attempt to pass off a NASA fancy dress costume as one of their own spacesuits.

Social media users pointed out that it looked like a child’s costume, which even showed the faint outline where the logos have been removed. An Iranian flag has also been sewn onto the sleeve.

The original tweet has now been removed.
