“The millennial and adult demographic are becoming increasingly important…”

As product and marketing manager for Creative Party, Shayna Bowles shares her predictions on what fashions and trends consumers will be looking for this Halloween.

What do you expect from this year’s Halloween season?

“Halloween 2018 was the year that truly marked the beginning of the shift from ‘scary’ Halloween to a more modern Halloween,”  For 2019, we predict that there will be a continued shift away from scary to ‘pretty scary’. Think chic, bold statement pieces and a real ‘less is more’ aesthetic.”

What do you think will be a major influence on the 2019 Halloween season?

“The millennial and adult demographic are becoming increasingly important to the success of Halloween for retailers. This importance can be attributed to the rise of social media, particularly millennials wanting their party to look fa-boo-lous for the gram’ and perhaps, to an extent, the rise in popularity of true crime, with Netflix and Sky releasing various true crime documentaries.”

What themes do you expect to see making an appearance?

“As consumers are opting for a more modern and chicer Halloween, our new wickedly festive Happy Halloween partyware range is a perfect contemporary alternative to the traditionally ‘scary’ partyware available. With quirky and clever phrases, including ‘Let’s Get Wicked’, ‘Witch Way to the Party’ and ‘Eat Drink and Be Scary’, complemented by a traditional Halloween colour scheme, this range is a fang-tastic bridge between traditional Halloween and the contemporary trends we are seeing now.”

What advice would you give retailers looking for a way to stand out this Halloween?

“For retailers looking to really highlight we advise creeping it real and looking to Instagram. Take inspiration and create an Instagram-worthy, modern Halloween themed display that a customer could easily replicate using the products displayed, at home.”
