Spielwarenmesse returns to strong international interest

Spielwarenmesse, which takes place from 30 January to 3 February at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre, has unveiled its plans for this year’s show.

The theme for the show this year is ‘Life’s a playground – Toys for kidsters, kidults and co’ which concentrates on adults as a target group and promises potential for the future of the retail trade.

At the international show, industry and trade have the opportunity to cultivate their business relationships and tap into new channels.

Christian Ulrich, spokesperson on the executive board at Spielwarenmesse, commented: “The positive attitude that we have experienced, not to mention the figures themselves, are noticeably higher than last year’s levels. Interest from overseas in particular is exceptionally high.”

From start-ups to key players, there will be 2,354 exhibitors from 68 countries at the show, across 13 product groups in 18 halls.

Hall 3A will host over 80 product examples aimed at adult target groups, as well as live demonstrations from Ultra Comix, Nuremberg’s flagship store in the Kidults field. A study by the BrandTrends Group – ‘Navigating the Kidults Frontier’ also underlines the theme.

Next door is the StartupArea and New Product Gallery in Hall 2.

The new LicenseLounge is produced in collaboration with Brandmate, Licensing International and Licensing magazine and can be found in Hall 12. The lounge features a networking area as well as LicenseTalks from Tuesday to Thursday, where speakers will share expertise.

The Toy Business Forum in Hall 3A will run every day from 1-4pm where experts will discuss kidults, sustainability, trends, online marketing, digitalisation and AI. On the Wednesday, the new Live on Stage format will offer presentations from exhibitors.

There will be a party atmosphere on Thursday night at RedNight, where from 6pm, over 100 exhibitors will invite visitors to their stand for a drink and networking.

Four VisitorLounges can be found in the centre with seating, charging stations and water dispensers, in halls 3A, 3, 7 and 11. Selfie spots are also available, and the life-sized Furrington the Fair Bear will be visiting too.

Christian concluded: “The 73rd Spielwarenmesse once more becomes a central live platform to provide a source of inspiration to an international industry that lives off personal contact and innovation. It offers the perfect mix of new ideas and trends, together with information, networking and entertainment.”
