September marks the start of International Balloon Month

September marks the start of International Balloon Month, which will see non-profit organisation The Balloon Council (TBC) encouraging the public to celebrate the joy of balloons and highlight the need for everyone to use and dispose of balloons responsibly.

International Balloon Month will once again feature the #LiftUpSomebody campaign, inspiring people around the world to thank someone in their community by giving them balloons and sharing the joy on social media.

The theme for 2019 is Green Comes in Every Colour. “As balloon retailers, distributors, manufacturers and artists we are committed to protecting the environment by educating thepublic about Smart Balloon Practices to prevent balloons from becoming litter,” said Lorna O’Hara, executive director of The Balloon Council.

She continued: “The #LiftUpSomebody campaign is a great way to reinforce the green message and show that balloons can be enjoyed in a responsible way if everyone does their part.”

The #LiftUpSomebody campaign encourages consumers to give balloons to special people in the community such as firefighters, care givers and teachers.

“It helps spread goodwill and demonstrates the positive power of balloons,” continued Lorna. “We invite everyone to share their joyful moments using the hashtag #LiftUpSomebody.”

To enter the photo contest, simply tag your picture with #LiftUpSomebody and share it on The Balloon Council’s Instagram page (@balloonsliftup). Prizes will be awarded for the best images. Visit www.balloonsliftup.com for contest details.

The winner will receive a gift basket full of the latest balloons and related items worth up to $200 from sponsors Anagram, Betallic and Qualatex.
