Rubie’s UK has sent a man who ran the London marathon in its famous T-Rex costume – and proposed to his girlfriend halfway round – a new dinosaur costume to replace his well-loved inflatable.
Because the act of proposing to your partner isn’t stressful enough, one man decided to do it in an inflatable dinosaur costume while running the 26.2 mile London Marathon course.
Unsurprisingly, the attention-grabbing costume and the proposal garnered a lot of media attention, with both social channels and traditional media such as the BBC and even US-based NBC picking up on the story quickly.
The man behind the @TRexRunning Twitter account is Chris Jones, who was proposing to long-time girlfriend Katie Parker.
Chris was running to raise money for @EvelinaLondon Childrens Hospital who saved his eight-year-old cousin’s life after he contracted a life-threatening when he was just 20 months old.
A BBC reporter interviewed the couple after the proposal and the combination of the T-Rex costume and Parker’s overjoyed reaction saw the clip go viral.
Rubie’s_UK was quick to get in touch with Chris via Twitter, and after congratulating him, sent an inflatable blue velociraptor costume as an enagement present.
Chris was delighted with the gift, saying; “Just seen this beaut that @Rubies_UK are kindly sending as engagement present! Epic! I didn’t think it was an inflatable one! Oh the possibilities…”
Whoops, cut off the video accidentally, full proposal here! #TRexMarathon #Roary pic.twitter.com/55XNBQnQ5v
