Popular lifestyle inspiration website Pinterest has looked at the ‘most searched’ list of more than 300 million Halloween ideas, revealing the site’s most popular searches.
In addition to traditional and unique costume ideas, with popular pins (online mood boards) ranging from llamas to avocado on toast, the list of Pinfrights for 2018 also revealed the site’s most-searched Halloween beauty look and decor choices.
Over half of all Halloween-related pins are about costumes, with solo efforts, group costumes and children’s costumes all getting special mentions. The costume themes are wide-ranging, but shy away from the traditionally scary, with dinosaurs and Mamma Mia proving to be the more popular and on-trend choices, with searches for the latter up by 1,000%.
The most popular beauty inspiration for consumers choosing to focus on Halloween make-up is Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas – searches are up 91% this year, despite the film having been released in 1993. Pumpkin make-up styles feature on the list as well, with searches for the look up by 884%.
Pumpkins also feature in the top ten decor list, with searches for pumpkin lanterns up by over 300%, although floating witches hat lights (up by 485%) top the list of clever decor ideas.
