A news segment on cable news network MSNBC bought The Halloween & Party Expo and HAuNTcon to a whole new audience as it highlighted the co-located conventions.
The feature aired on Sunday 11 February as part of the Your Business segment and saw the team visiting the January shows in New Orleans to get a true flavour of the Halloween, party and haunt industries.
The video opens by saying that; “hundreds of manufacturers, buyers and haunted house operators are getting a very early start on the business that is Halloween.”
MSNBC’s segment included in-depth interviews with Urban Expositions ceo Greg Topalian and HAuNTcon founder Leonard Pickel who has been part of the haunt industry for more than 40 years (Urban Expositions purchased HAuNTcon in 2017).
“Why do people come? The number one thing is new, they want to see what’s new,” said Greg when asked what makes a trade show successful. “And there’s a lot of new here!”
“HAuNTcon is all about sharing information and networking,” added Leonard, who never expected the convention to be so successful as he outlines how difficult it was to make the decision to sell ‘his baby’ to Urban Expositions last year.
