HIA Launches Consumer Marketing Initiative

The Halloween Industry Association (HIA) has announced that it will be launching its first ever consumer marketing initiative in a drive to promote the celebration of Halloween throughout the US.

The consumer engagement programme has been rolled out across social media and calls on members of the public to get involved in a national costume challenge.

The HIA’s call to action asks consumers to take selfies, pictures and videos of themselves doing an everyday task in costume, fully embracing their Halloween alter-ego. Social media posts across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will announce various challenges throughout the duration of the campaign while also featuring HIA member companies and their products.

Entrants should tag their pictures with #HalloweenHijinks to win, and the most creative submissions will receive gift cards, costumes, accessories and prizes to ensure they have the best Halloween ever.

The consumer campaign follows the appointment of a new marketing director for HIA, Aneisha McMillan. Aneisha has 15 years of public relations and marketing experience with a heavy focus in social media, generating big ideas on a budget.

Future plans include partnering with retailers and the industry on larger scale projects.
