Harry Potter Dress-Up Record

A new world record has been set by a school in Australia, for the largest number of people dressed up as Harry Potter.

The record attempt took place at the West Byford Primary School in Western Australia, as part of the 20th anniversary of The Sorcerer’s stone. Parents, pupils and teachers were invited to come in wearing the Hogwards school uniform, glasses, a wand and a fake scar in order to become official record holders.

The successful record attempt saw 997 people gathering together to set the new world record for the largest number of people dressed as Harry Potter in one place.

The event was organized by school’s library officer, Christine Metalex who wanted to; “encourage kids to read and thank author JK Rowling.”

The new record has broken the previous record of 827 students which was set by a neighbouring school in November. The previous champions were from the UK, and had held the record of 676 since June this year.

The record required people to make videos, take photographs, sit together in same costume for at least five minutes.
