In any normal year, the bulk of the Halloween buying and planning would be done by this stage, but as we all know by now, 2020 is not a normal year. Pioneer Europe’s head of marketing Julie Dommett shares her take on the celebrations as 31 October draws closer.
“It’s looking like this Halloween may take place in a different way to recent years, with less emphasis on trick-or-treating, and more people taking the opportunity to celebrate at home with small gatherings of friends and family instead.
We expect consumers will be looking for a reason to host a celebration – especially as Halloween is on Saturday this year – and that this is most likely to result in an uplift of pre-inflated and DIY ‘party décor to go’ balloon sales, which add instant impact to a home party. Local balloon professionals who have planned and promoted their services ahead of time could therefore be the most likely to win additional sales.
In line with current trends, we anticipate Halloween-themed Bubble Balloons and 5” latex scatter balloons will be popular choices. We also expect to see more people creating fun backdrops and hanging ceiling decorations using air-filled script balloons like the Northstar ‘Boo’ and large Microfoil shapes such as the new Qualatex ‘Black Jack’ and ‘Glitzy and Glam Bat’ shapes.
Qualatex has a huge selection of design ideas that balloon professionals can download for customer inspiration. We are also sharing social media assets for customers to promote décor to go, with styles to suit every type of party theme from fun to full-on spooky!”
