Sharon Poulter, trade marketing manager for fancy dress and party company Smiffys, shares her thoughts on the hen and stag party market in 2019.
How important is the hen and stag market to the party industry?
“As summer approaches, the hen and stag season comes into its strength. Rose gold is the go-to colour for hens this year, adding a little more elegance to the traditional bold wild pinks available. We have everything to ensure the celebrations get off to a great start. “
What’s new in the hen and stag market for 2019?
“Our new range of rose gold, glitter and blush pink hen party essentials includes sashes, rosettes and headbands with veils. We also have a number of finishing touches for hen parties like marble and gold gift bags and pin badges which will help all the bridal party feel that they are truly part of the Bride Tribe. There is even an inflatable diamond ring which will help create the perfect atmosphere for a party to remember and is essential for those hen party selfies!”
Which themes, styles or trends are key at the moment?
“There is an emerging trend taking hold; a Sten-do – which is stag and hen combined. Couples often share friends, so instead of having two small gatherings, why not have one giant party?”
What is your hero product or range for this sector for 2019?
“For the stags, Smiffys bright and bold Stand Out Suits feature new designs as well as a stylish shorts and jacket combo instead of the traditional full-length trousers.”
Any advice for retailers looking to update their hen and stag offering?
“We have listened to the market and enhanced our range of light-hearted, summer loving, good time having costumes. Novelty tabards of fruit and vegetables as well as a range of colourful animal costumes in a selection of styles are great for large groups of party animals.“
