The retailer will continue trading in the Ripley store under new ownership and management.
In a post on Facebook, owner, Simon Griffin, said: “It is with deep regret that I must inform you that Discount Party Outlet Ilkeston has now closed with immediate effect. Discount Party Warehouse Ripley will continue trading under new ownership and management.
“We would like to thank all our customers over the past seven and a half years. We will still be offering a delivery service for balloons and product, and everybody who has an outstanding balloon order will be contacted shortly.”
The store sold a range of party products including balloons, partyware, wrapping paper and gift bags.
Simon told NottinghamshireLive: “The main reason for us closing down is the footfall in Ilkeston. The Ripley store is being bought by somebody else and will continue to provide the service it has been doing. But the Ilkeston store has stopped trading and it is really due to the economic climate.
“It’s a decision that’s been made probably over the last nine months. It’s a bit different at the Ripley store because we’re on an industrial estate, so we’re not reliant on people walking by the shop, people can actually come to us and park outside the door.”
