“Children are an important target market for Halloween…”

As product and marketing manager for Creative Party, Shayna Bowles takes a look at the current Halloween market and what retailers can expect to see from the big day.

What’s your top tip for this year?

“As predicted, we’ve seen a shift from ‘scary’ to ‘pretty’ for Halloween partyware and décor. We expect this trend to continue in the final lead up to Halloween 2019. We have noticed our customers purchasing a variety of Halloween styles to suit consumer demand. We expect this to continue as consumers primarily fall into one of two camps, traditionalists and those looking to put a more modern twist on the spooky season.”

Which item/range/style do you expect to do really well?

“Our decorative Day of the Dead partyware range is a perfect contemporary alternative to traditionally scary partyware. With a bright skull motif complimented by punchy bright florals, this trend-led range is an ideal Halloween theme option.”

What are your new launches / biggest sellers?

“For a younger vibe, as children are of course a very important Halloween target market, our Pumpkin partyware range is spookily cute. A traditional Halloween pumpkin motif paired with bright colours makes for a great central theme to underpin any children’s Halloween party!”

What advice would you give retailers in the lead up to the big day?

“We would encourage retailers to keep an eye on social media platforms such as Pinterest and Instagram, to take inspiration from their target market with regards to the latest trends and popular styles. Creating modern in-store displays which can be easily replicated with nearby stock will inspire consumers to create similar creepy scenes at home.”
