Proud parents including Coleen Rooney and Amanda Holden were keen to share photographic evidence of their children dressing up for school as they got into the spirit of World Book Day 2018.
The official dress-up day took place yesterday (Thursday 1 March), although many schools have delayed the event until Friday 2 March – with some of those now rescheduling as hundreds of schools close across the UK due to the extreme weather.
Many children who were able to wear their costumes to school or nursery today were duly splashed across social media and Coleen Rooney was one of the first celebrity parents to show her children in full fancy dress yesterday morning.
Two of Coleens’ children were dressed up as The BFG while the youngest was dressed as JM Barrie’s classic Peter Pan (all costumes from Asda).
Also getting into the spirit of the event was Britain’s Got Talent star Amanda Holden. Amanda took the option to reuse a Halloween costume and shared a photo of her daughter dressed as Mildred Hubble from the Worst Witch book series.
Other celebrity offspring chose a wide range of designs, from The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Little Red Riding Hood to the popular princess and superhero costumes. A number of adults also got into the act, including Heart Radio’s Emma Bunton (who wore a home-made Where’s Wally) and Jamie Theakston (as Rubie’s inflatable Tweedledum, from Alice in Wonderland).
