Balloon Installation In NYC Ballet Art Series

Los Angeles-based balloon and performance/visual artist Geronimo, aka Jihan Zencirli, has created a large-scale balloon installation for Manhattan’s Lincoln Center.

The oversized installation has been produced in collaboration with the New York City Ballet as part of its Art Series and is open to the public until 14 March 2018.

The massive installation sees huge segments of large, brightly coloured spherical spheres that float in space and hang on the facades of the building’s structure.

Geronimo is the first female artist to be selected for the New York City Ballet Art Series, which is in its sixth year this year.

“Balloons are only for a moment,” she says. “They disappear and vanish. So rooted in my work is this reminder that you will only have this experience at this particular time. You’re here, you’re seeing it, you’re alive.”
