As of January 2020, fancy dress and party company Amscan will be extending its existing relationship with Warner Bros. to include dress-up and accessories, as the Amscan team explained.
Extending any licensing agreement is always a big deal, but there are a number of stand-out characters and brands from the Warner Bros. back catalogue which are particularly suited to costume and fancy dress, making next year’s new launches especially exciting for Amscan.
“We have an unrivalled product portfolio,” revealed marketing executive Charlotte Terry. “It includes over 12,000 wholesale products across key product areas of party, foil balloons, latex balloons and dress-up. Of course, we also offer an extensive choice of licensed and themed product for all occasions and ages as an important part of that.”
Licensing plays a key part within Amscan’s business, across balloons and partyware as well as dress-up and accessories, as head of licensing Mel Beer explains.
“Licensing is extremely important to all pillars of our business – dress-up, foil and latex balloons and of course party goods,” she said.
With an impressive licensing heritage, Amscan currently holds over 80 different licences across its product portfolio and the family of Warner Bros. brands features heavily in that list.
“We’re delighted to have extended our long-term Warner Bros. relationship, with the introduction of dress-up costumes and accessories for children and adults across DC Superheroes, TV classics and classic movie franchises,” said Mel. “Phase one of our product offering will be available to ship from January 2020, with additional costumes and accessories being introduced throughout the coming months.”
With such a significant launch taking place at the start of the year and in advance of the trade shows, is it fair to say that 2020 is going to be a big year for Amscan and its licensing portfolio?
“Absolutely,” agreed Mel. “Our focus for next year will be to maximise sales across all our new licensed brands, including Warner Bros. dress up, for which we already have strong customer demand.”
