Amscan UK, part of the Wonder group, joined forces with the Milton Keynes community, to gain a Guinness World Record for the longest length of tin cans.
Amscan US employees gathered items from the charity’s shopping list to help prepare for the event. Then together with 99 other businesses, 20 local school, 30 churches and faith groups, 50 community organisations and 25 charities, the Amscan UK Share Life’s Party team participated in the event held at Campbell Park, Milton Keynes, which saw over 102,000 cans collected for the MK food bank.
The 10km route successfully broke the standing record and has also led to fulfilling just over half of the canned food that the MK Food Bank requires for the an entire year. During 2023, demand increased by almost 40% and the number of households receiving support doubled.
With this in mind, Amscan has also decided to keep its food collection scheme open for the foreseeable future, to continue to support the local community.
Lisa Norris, commercial director at Amscan UK, commented: ” This has been a wonderful project for Amscan UK to be involved with. For our colleagues, the simplest of gestures has provided a significant impact for our local community, which is the very essence of our Share Life’s Party team.
“We are really looking forward to the next community initiative the committee of Amscan volunteers sets for us, and to how we can continue to Share Life’s Party and support as many community projects as possible.”
