National newspaper focuses on fancy dress

National British newspaper The Sun has focused its attentions on children’s fancy dress ahead of the summer and Halloween season, looking at a number of the high street and other retail options open to consumers looking for outfits.

The feature starts off by acknowledging the power of hit movies on the childrens’ fancy dress industry and advises checking out ‘ASDA, M&S and Amazon’ for a comprehensive selection of these licensed costumes.

After a short introduction covering the various types of costumes that prove popular (Gruffalo, Peppa Pig and Cat in the Hat all get namechecked), the article then moves onto the best places to source these outfits.

H&M is named as the best place to buy Halloween fancy dress costumes, TU at Sainsbury’s is the chosen retailer for superhero costumes and the Disney Store for high-quality options. Asda is named as being the cheapest fancy dress option as it ‘offers great value for money’, while Amazon is highlighted as ideal for the more unusual or hard-to-source costumes.

Ocado, Marks & Spencer and high-end online retailer Meri Meri are also named. The only dress-up brand to be mentioned in the feature is Melissa & Doug, which was noted for it’s ‘real world’ costume range.
