Rhyl-based balloon and party shop Personalise A Memory has been named Gift Shop of the Year at the Welsh Independent Retail Awards 2019.
The awards, which are in their second year, aim to highlight the value of independent retailers, showcasing diversity within the industry.
Personalise A Memory has been running for three years and only became a balloon and party shop just under a year ago after its personalised gift business began to struggle.
“Being crowned the winner in our category meant the world to us,” said Ashley Jones, 21, who runs Personalise A Memory with his mother Lindsay. “Having recognition for our hard work makes us feel proud at how far we have come. To come first out of the whole top 10, it made my heart burst with excitement.”
“We’d like to say a big thank you to every person who voted for us and to every single person who comes into our shop because you’ve helped a small business grow,” he continued. “We are going to treasure this award – it will remind us why we started.”
