Minion Balloon Costume Is Potential World Record

American creators of a 13-foot Minion costume made entirely out of balloons are waiting to be told if their creation is a Guinness World Record-breaker.

Initially made by US balloon experts the Sask brothers for the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce’s Summer Parade Sunday, the oversized costume has already played its part in the annual parade, which took place on 2 July, 2018.

The creation of local brothers Richard and Preston Roy, who are trying to beat a Guinness World Record with the character, the Minion costume took over 50 hours and 1,300 balloons to create. It can actually be worn and the pair walked the costume through the streets by each ‘wearing’ one of the legs.

“Being in the parade was on Preston’s bucket list,” said Richard (aka Richy Roy). “We kind of drew our inspiration from the Macy’s Day Parade, where you have those huge balloon things floating down the sky. It’s something really incredible.”

The brothers are hoping the costume, which will break a world record. It is believed that the current record holder is around nine-feet tall.
