US: Amscan closes Chester distribution centre

As Party City’s bankruptcy proceedings continue, the company has closed its Amscan distribution centre.

The centre closure is making 471 people unemployed and the workers at the centre were not represented by a union.

The site closed last week, having originally been scheduled to close in February. Workers affected by the closure include material handlers, supervisors and HR staff. It is not immediately clear if the staff will receive severance pay.
