Rubies raises over £20K for The Children’s Society

Just months after donating over 100,000 units of stock to raise money for The Children’s Society, Rubies has announced it has raised over £20,000 for the charity.

One of the biggest sources of funding for The Children’s Society is its ten charity shops and its eBay shop, in partnership with corporate donors. Lockdowns had forced the charity to close the shops and lead to a loss of around £1 million each month. Rubies’ officially licensed donations have been spread between the physical and online shops to enable everyone to support the cause when buying a costume.

Donna Joyce, head of UK retail sales and business development, Rubies, commented: “When we donated 100,000 units of stock from our much-loved back catalogue of licences to The Children’s Society, we understood that we were helping to raise funds for vulnerable children, but we had no idea that in just a few months, we could raise over £20,000.

“This amount is staggering and we are incredibly happy to know that our products are creating profit for a charity with such noble causes.”

Mark Russell, chief executive at The Children’s Society, added: “This incredible gesture by Rubies and the amazing support of our shop customers across the country will help us in our mission to provide vital help to thousands of children and young people every year.

“The pandemic has caused enormous damage across society and many young people need help now more than ever. We know lockdowns have also placed strains on the finances of households and businesses, as well as charities like ours, so we are enormously grateful for this support which will help us to continue to change young lives for the better.”
