Fancy Me packs last fancy dress order

After ten years of trading, Sammantha Selby has made the decision to close the successful ecommerce retailer.

Fancy Me was established in 2012 and the award-winning retailer offered adult, children’s and pet fancy dress costumes, accessories and props, with 50% of the business comprised of exports.

In a post on LinkedIn, owner, Sammantha explained: “Yesterday I packed my last fancy dress costume and closed my business. I’ve had a blast in the 10 years I’ve ran it, won prestigious awards including Entrepreneur of the Year multiple times, Exporter of the Year and Business of the Year at regional and national levels. I turned over my first million pounds before I was 30 and employed numerous people in my career here.

“Whilst I’m sad to see it go, my mental health has to come first. Being in hospital twice due to stress, miscarrying my twins and the heartache and pressure of it all just got on top of me.

“Thank you to anyone who has supported me over the years, I’m now looking for a new opportunity to shine!”
