US-based party and fancy dress seasonal retailer Spirit Halloween has donated more than $71,000 to the Sparrow Foundation for the Sparrow Children’s Center in Michigan.
As the largest Halloween specialty retailer in the whole of North America, Spirit Halloween has made fundraising part of its mission statement. The Spirit of Children initiative allows the retailer to bring fun and funding to local hospitals both at Halloween and throughout the rest of the year.
The charitable efforts of Spirit of Children have raised more than $280,000 for Sparrow – which is the region’s only full-service pediatric emergency department – in the 12 years since 2007.
“Our mission is to make hospitals less scary for kids and their families through support of the children’s department at partner hospitals in our local communities,” says a spokesperson for the party and fancy dress retailer.
Most of the funds raised come from donations and sales at the local Spirit Halloween stores.
