The Roald Dahl Marvellous Children’s Charity is urging schools across the UK to get involved in its annual ‘Dahlicious Dress Up Day’, which is held on (or near) 13 September each year.
The costume-focused event is part of the Roald Dahl Day celebrations which are held to celebrate the famous children’s storyteller and raise money to provide the best possible healthcare for seriously ill children in the UK.
The premise is simple; schools and groups dress up as their favourite Roald Dahl character – choosing from famous children’s favourites such as James and the Giant Peach, The Twits and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory – hold a party and donate their marvellous money to the charity.
Party retailers will be able to support the initiative with Smiffys’ collection of officially licensed Roald Dahl character dress-up, including classics such as Willy Wonka and Matilda to Fantastic Mr Fox and The BFG.
The charity also provides lesson plans and other learning resources for teachers, as well as dressing up tips for parents who want to get crafty.
