Global costume and dress-up company Rubie’s has joined forces with the Superhero Series – a unique new sporting challenge – to sponsor the ‘At Home Winter Wonderwheels powered by Marvel’ campaign.
The Superhero Series is the UK’s only mass-participation sports series dedicated to the nation’s 13.3m people with disabilities. Rubie’s is sponsoring the sporting challenge, which has been created to encourage superheroes and sidekicks to stay active, super-charged and connected.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be involved with this brilliant campaign,” says Rubie’s coo, Mike O’Connell. “With the events being powered by Marvel, it was a no-brainer for Rubie’s to be involved with our passion for Superheroes.”
He continued: “Our mission is to help the Superheroes Series to continue inspiring participants by unlocking their inner superpower. Rubie’s cannot wait to bring all its iconic Super Hero characters to participants’ homes and neighbourhoods.”
Specialised social distancing events will focus on participants competing from home, the garden or a local park on the 5 – 6 November. They will be joined by an array of celebrity team captains who will take part in the action remotely, including Paralympic equestrian champion Sophie Christiansen and Invictus Games’ JJ Chalmers. The campaign will be supported by Channel 4 broadcasting a 60-minute programme on the mission, presented by Clare Balding.
“We’re really excited to be running a second at home challenge,” explains series founder and Paralympian Sophia Warner. “The whole concept of the Superhero Series is to make sport fun for everyone and our partnership with Rubie’s will help us take this to the next level. We are looking forward to seeing every superhero and sidekick dressed in the crazy and amazing costumes that this partnership is introducing us to!”
