With one eye on the steady summer season, party retailers will be starting to look forward to Halloween, planning what new stock to buy in, working out the best way to decorate the shop, and how best to drive customer interest and engage with social media followers… There’s a lot to try and stay on top of, but as Halloween has become an increasingly important season for the supermarkets and high street retailers then party specialists need to capitalise on their area of expertise as much as possible.

The high street itself has been having a difficult time of late. Business is likely to become even more cut-throat in the coming months, with prices being slashed and sales extended as stores battle to keep customers coming in and spending money.

Discount bargain high street store Poundworld is the latest retailer to have entered administration – which many in the retail trade will undoubtedly have mixed feelings about. While it’s always sad when a business runs into difficulties, Poundworld carried a great deal of low-cost party product, particularly at Christmas and Halloween – so it’s understandable that party businesses with a local branch will be keeping one eye on the news to see how the story unravels in the coming weeks.

Until next time, please drop us a line with any news, views or anything else you’d like us to look at in the future.

Happy Halloween planning!
