YouTube fitness sensation The Body Coach (aka Joe Wicks) encouraged children across the world to wear fancy dress for their daily digital PE lesson this morning, which he led in a full Spiderman costume.
The personal trainer and online fitness coach has been running free daily PE classes every weekday at 9am for the last two weeks, aimed at getting children up and moving in the morning, after schools were closed to limit the spread of coronavirus.
The daily live YouTube streaming event has been a massive success, with millions of people taking part across the world. Today’s lesson (Friday 3 April) was a special fancy dress edition of the show, which encouraged children and parents to wear costumes and get dressed up at home as well.
Hundreds of families shared pictures of their outfits on social media using the hashtag #fancydresspewithjoe. It quickly became a top trend on Twitter, with fantastic costumes including everything from superheroes and dinosaurs to Disney princesses.
Earlier this week, Joe revealed that his lessons have so far raised around £80,000 in advertising revenue from YouTube, which he will donate to the NHS.
