Fancy dress costume recalled

A child’s fancy dress costume has been urgently recalled due to what Trading Standards has described as a ‘serious risk of strangulation’.

The costume  – made by Taiwanese party company Gift Tower – has been urgently recalled, as the free-ended cords can pose a serious risk of strangulation.

Gift Tower’s Lordliness King outfit is a popular import/export item and consists of a sash, trousers, crown, shirt and cape.

In the recall notice, which was issued by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, the product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive or the relevant European Standard EN 14682.

The specific model being recalled is marked M (for sizes 110 to 120cm) and is packaged in a plastic bag with a cardboard sleeve showing a photograph of a child wearing the costume. The batch number is B-0057.

Any retailer who has this product in stock should immediately remove it from sale and contact Gift Tower directly for more information.
