Halloween 2023 Review: Rubies

Rubies head of portfolio and marketing, Fran Hales is the latest to report back to PartyWorldwide.com on how Halloween 2023 went.

“Halloween has notoriously been a harder sell on a Tuesday, especially with a storm hitting the UK. Regardless it is a season off which we are seeing shifting patterns and trends, year-on-year. The growth of Halloween decorations is noticeable with our props proving to be strong sellers. We also noticed a swing from licensed costumes to generic/non licensed across the board. The generic market took a hit in Covid but we are very pleased to see the green shoots of recovery over the past few seasons.

“We were delighted to see our M3gan styles sell out along with other top performing products including Wednesday and Monster High. Of course, the must have couple costume was our aerobics adult pairing of Barbie and Ken from Mattel, Halloween continued a year of pure Kenergy off the back of the phenomenal Barbie movie success.

“In addition to licensed costumes, we saw a surge in demand for unique and eye-catching DIY-style costumes. People were embracing their creativity and opting for personalised, homemade looks that allowed them to stand out from the crowd. To cater to this trend, we offered a wide range of accessories and individual costume pieces, enabling customers to mix and match and create their own stunning ensembles. When it comes to what sold well, accessories were a big hit. From bold wigs to intricate masks and thematic props, customers appreciated the extra touches to complete their Halloween looks.

“Overall, Halloween 2023 was a solid season once again for Rubies UK. We are delighted to have played a part in helping people get into the Halloween spirit, and we look forward to bringing even more innovation and enchantment to future Halloween seasons.”
