2023 is set for a big summer. Having kicked off in late spring with the King’s Coronation, and continued with a sold-out Glastonbury, we are looking forward to the women’s football World Cup and much more in between.
Progressive Party chats to some key execs about their hopes and expectations for the season, as well as what everyone needs to have on their shelves.
Summer is a great opportunity for the party industry, not only are there some key events, such as summer festivals and hen and stag outings bringing out the fancy dress costumes, but the better weather allows for garden parties, which could work well for consumers looking to host at home rather than incur the cost of going out.
Elliott Peckett, director of Smiffys, explains: “After kicking off the summer with Bank Holidays and the Coronation, we believe that more customers will be choosing to host parties at home throughout the season, rather than going out. As disposable income becomes increasingly limited, going out to eat and drink will become less of a priority this summer.”
Julie Dommett, head of marketing at Pioneer Europe, continues: “In the UK, the spring Coronation celebrations have us off to a great early start, so that’s sure to set the scene for hosting lots of gatherings all summer long.”
